My Career Website
Since this is a relatively unusual career choice, I am having difficulty finding a specific job description on the net. I have found some links that provide a general overview of the amusement industry and the various jobs in that industry.

The first link is from the U.S. Department of Labor

While the descriptions on this page are pretty broad, they do touch on the specifics of what I want to do, which is management. Here’s a sample paragraph.
Executive, administrative, and managerial occupations make up 7 percent
of employment in this industry. Managerial duties in the performing arts
include marketing, business management, event booking, fundraising, and public
outreach. Recreation supervisors and park superintendents oversee
personnel, budgets, grounds and facility maintenance, and land and wildlife
resources. Some common administrative jobs in sports are tournament
director, health club manager, and sports program director.
Here is another link from the U.S. Department of Labor that gives a general description of a general manager or a top executive.

While my interest is to start my own business, jobs like the one I’m describing do exist in the entertainment industry. A word that is often used to describe a person who does this kind of work is imagineer. This word is a term used by the Walt Disney Company to describe the artists, engineers and administrators who design attractions for Disney theme parks. Here is a link to a site that describes what imagineers do and how they do it.

Just for grins, I checked out the “Job Titles of the Future” article that was suggested by Santa Fe’s career resource center. Interestingly enough, I discovered a couple of job descriptions that pretty much hit the nail on the head. Here they are.
