The night after Nicky had been pulled from the ground, Greg took to
studying David Hodges. The twenty four hours before, Greg had noticed
the older man several times dropping the sarcastic, jackass mask he
carried around everyone else.
Greg and he had played Dukes of Hazard when shift had provided
nothing for the newest CSI to investigate. David had surprised Greg
with the comment about his loud shirts and wild hair. Greg had
remedied that with a semi-loud shirt and neatly styled spiky hair (he
still had to look slightly respectable). David had given him a smirk
as he walked by the lab.
When Hodges had attacked the delivery boy to save evidence on the
envelope regarding Nick, Greg had wanted to kiss the man. And when he
did, later when they were alone, Hodges had grabbed onto him tightly
and returned the kiss several times before Greg had been called to
the warehouse scene.
The final act of the night, David Hodges, trace expert for the Las
Vegas Crime Lab on Westfall Avenue, had rushed the trace on the
prototype box found in the warehouse and had saved most of Las
Vegas's law enforcement with a perfectly timed phone call. Greg, like
most of the crime lab had gone home after Nicky had been placed in
the ambulance and had not seen Hodges until he started shift the next
night.
Greg took to studying the man as he had his coffee in the break room
as David ran trace on a case from the night before that had been put
off for Nicky. Hodges was bent over a microscope every time Greg
looked up. Soon after his coffee, Sara dragged him off to a B&E for
the rest of the night.
Greg walked through the halls of the lab, a few packets of trace in
his hands. He'd already clocked out and had changed into even louder
clothes, but had waited to drop the evidence off until he had done
so. Hodges was running a comparison against fibres and had his face
in a microscope. Greg walked up behind him and cleared his throat,
relishing in the way the brunette man jumped.
"Sanders, must you?" David gave him a withering glare, but Greg
noticed the way his lips were curving up slightly , trying to fight a
grin.
"Must I what? Must I ask you if you want to go to breakfast, dinner,
whatever with me? Yep, I must," Greg grinned and tossed the evidence
packets to him.
"'Whatever' sounds good. Ten minutes?"
Greg gave him a wide smirk and headed to the break room for another
cup of coffee. He wanted to be awake for this.
