Greg sat at the table still flipping thru the catalogue as he watched Grissom's back going to his office.
That set Greg's imagination going thinking what Gil would think if he knew that Greg had been in love with him for years now and too afraid to voice his feelings.
Gil's comment seemed in this moment that it might be a good opening to share his feelings; he took a deep breath and made his own way to Gil.
The closer he got to his destination the more scared he became but for once his courage prevailed.
He knocked on Grissom's office and asked "Could I speak to you for a
second?"
Gil looked up from his ever increasing pile of paperwork and said "Sure
Greg, come on in."
Greg made his way into the office and closed the door; this piqued Gil's
curiosity this meant it was a serious conversation.
Greg sat down in front of Gil and began speaking.
"Gil I was wondering if you were willing to take a chance from your statement in the break room?" Greg asked.
"What kind of chance do you mean Greg?" Gil countered.
Greg sat up straighter in the chair and gulped nervously it was now or
never.
"Gil I have had feelings for you since I was in the lab. Would you go out on a date with me?" questioned Greg.
This came as a complete surprise to Gil.
"Yes Greg, I will go out with you how about breakfast after shift" asked Gil.
Greg sat there stunned for a second, had he heard what he thought?
"What about dinner tomorrow night? At my place instead, I'm a great cook and I would love to show you" Greg asked nervously.
"Sure tomorrow night it is, can I bring wine?" smiled Gil.
"Yes that would be great; your choice." Greg answered more relieved by the minute.
"Okay I will see you at your place tomorrow at what 6 is that okay?" chuckled Gil.
"Sure 6 is fine with me, see you than." Laughed Greg; not believing his
luck.
Greg left headquarters and immediately went grocery shopping he wanted the freshest items from the farmer's market for dinner tonight.
When he had grabbed his feast, he went home and grabbed some shut eye, he didn't want to fall asleep in the middle of dinner.
His alarm woke him at 4pm and he got up grinning from ear to ear with a definite bounce to his step.
He showered and shaved and took even longer than usual in front of the mirror getting his hair just right for tonight.
After this was accomplished he made dinner for the two of them.
He started the main dish, and while it was cooking he set the table with his best china.
With this done he started on the salad and dessert which was left chilled in the fridge, he even broke out the ice bucket for the wine that Gil was bringing.
If anyone had saw him they would have wondered why he had done all this in the nude, he had gotten the idea from this amazing chef on the food network.
After everything was set up, made, chilled, he finally went into his room and got dressed for the evening. He dressed down from his normal wardrobe for this monumental event.
He put on a simple button down top in khaki green with black trousers.
Gil knocked on the door right at 6 if anything he was punctual. He stood there thinking why he had accepted Greg's invitation. It was totally out of his character to think of dating a team member.
Yeah he had had dinner with Terri Miller a couple of times when they worked together but she wasn't on his everyday team. He at this thought almost turned around and left but he liked Greg and since his promotion, he had found a depth in him that kind of reminded him of a younger version of Nickie.
This wasn't at all bad considering how well Nick had turned out; he was hoping that Greg would turn out as well.
He knocked on the door and there stood Greg looking extremely different than when he was at work. Gil liked this immensely, his outfit looked simple but sexy and comfortable, and Gil got hard.
Greg smiled the perfect loving smile at Gil and invited him in.
Gil handed him the wine while he examined Greg's domicile, this was the first time he had been invited over. He liked the variety of styles from the artwork to the choice of reading materials.
His choice of furniture was eclectic but all designed around the occupant's comfort which made it a warm and charming atmosphere.
"Gil would you mine pouring while I get dinner ready?" asked Greg.
"Sure do you have a corkscrew?" Gil wondered.
Greg gave the corkscrew to Gil while he got the food out of the oven and put it on the table.
Gil sat down after pouring and marveled at what was set out for him. Greg hadn't been kidding when he said he was a good cook.
They had a wonderful dinner and dessert just making small talk delving into each other's past a bit and finding out they had more in common with each other than first thought.
When dinner was over and they had both cleaned up, Gil had helped so Greg hadn't had to do the whole thing himself.
They sat down and watched an old movie and had a couple of beers. When the movie was over Gil got up and said "Greg thank you for a wonderful first date I loved it."
"No Gil thank you for even agreeing to go out with me I never thought this day would come. Thank you again." Greg Answered.
They stood together for a second and Gil took Greg's face in his hands and gave him a gentle kiss to the lips. Greg thought there were fireworks going off his body lit up from the inside from the kiss.
"Thank you Greg and for our second date maybe you will come over to my place? And possibly stay the weekend?" asked Gil hesitantly.
"Yes anytime Gil, I would love too." Sounded Greg, still on his high from the kiss.
With that Gil got on his coat and left Greg's apartment.
