VA Beach Bum Ace Don Sutton, on his new team.
"The way this Gagne fellas been throwin, I think we should win most games we can grab a lead in. And we should definitely put some runs across with this offense. Willie Mays is definitely one of the greatest outfielders to play the game, and that Willie McCovey, he is a big lumbering hitter. I think he's the only player Don Drysdale fears physically. Weve also got that Jeter kid swingin a mighty strong bat in bp, and with Little Napolean John McGraw getting on base over half the time, yeah we should do well. I'm looking forward to takiing that mound on Opening Day." When asked about his fro, in this 1970's Match Game photo, he abruptly ended the interview. |

| Cub great Ron Santo was kind enough to sit down with us after seeing Barry Bonds treat us so rudely. Here's an excerpt of that conversation. "In 1964 the Cubs traded Lou Brock to the Cardinals. That we traded him was a surprise to every player on the team. I was at a golf tournament with Bob Kennedy, who was the head coach at the time. We were playing golf, and he was called off of the golf course and we didnt know what was going on. He came back later for the dinner and told us we traded Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio. I remember I said, How could you trade Lou Brock? Billy (Williams) and Ernie (Banks) felt the same way. We all knew how good he was going to be. So its sort of fitting that, here in this league, we are reunited as teammates. |

| Jackie Robinson, on his legacy: "To see how my struggles and sacrifices have produced fruit that is far reaching and greater than I could have hoped, it's hard to find the words. Just look at this El Paso squad I'm on. We've got Manny Ramirez, Luis Aparicio, Odalis Perez, so it looks like baseball has changed for the better. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a little disappointing not seeing more men of color out here, but it does make me very proud when I see many races and nationalities coming together to play Americas pastime. Im really looking forward to this first season. We should be right there in the thick of it all. Weve got a couple fellow Dodger greats in Sandy Koufax and Dazzy Vance, and all of our infielders are very good. |

| Columbus's Joe Nathan talks with GSBL: "When I decided to come back to baseball, as a pitcher, I never dreamed of anything like this. To be chosen to play in a league of all time greats. It's flattering. Having Francisco Liriano here as a teammate is special also, we both came up through the SF Giants farm system and were traded to Minnesota together, so weve been teammates for many years now. Its just nice to have a familiar face in the clubhouse, especially THIS clubhouse. You got King Kelly and that monkey, Bid McPhee soakin his hands in salt, callin us sissies for wearing gloves. Let's just say the first few days have been quite an awesome, yet bizzare experience" |

We had a chance to speak with Joe Dimaggio, and get his thoughts on his new team the Omaha Blue Bags.
Here's a short exerpt: Back when I came up with the Yankees, I mean, Gehrig was still there, but he was past his peak. I was still THE GUY. So, to be only the 4th heaviest hitter on the team? A SS with more power than me? You gotta be kiddin. He added: "Well see whats what once the season gets going" |
