| Hitting: The Omaha Blue Bags outslug Las Vegas, for the 10-9 victory. Seven of the nine Blue Bags collect 2 hits or more. Jimmy Collins hits a 3 run dong, and Joe Cunningham drives in 3 as well, as Omaha runs its record to 4-0. Honorable Mention: The Tulsa Dust Devils score 11 runs against the Memphis Kings. All nine Dust Devils reached base safely. |
| Pitching: Stan Coveleski of the San Jose Silicon Sluggers goes 8 innings allowing just 1 run. |
| Hitting: The El Paso Gunslingers obliterated the Indianapolis Clowns, putting up 23 runs on 27 hits, both MGBL records. Rick Ferrell and Bill Terry both had 4 hits, as the gunslingers rack up 40 total bases, another early record for the young league. Honorable Mention: Al Kaline blasts a 3 run homer and added a 2 run triple, for 5 RBI, as the Charlotte Harlottes deal the San Antonio Stroll their first loss. |

| Hitting: The Indianapolis Clowns served up a nice cold plate of retribution to them ol' Gunsllingers, in an 11-1 blowout. All nine starters, as well as 4 of the 6 bench players used reached base. Leading the way, Frank Robinson going 3 for 3 with 2 walks and scoring 3. |
| Pitching: Those Indianapolis Clowns are the first team to appear in both highlight sections for the same game. Babe Adams was spectacular, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and a walk, k'ing 3 for the complete game victory. |
| Highs and Lows from 5/15 Gabby Hartnett, of Colorado Springs, has his second multi homer game of the season already. Columbus Harmonizers' "Doc" Gooden is dominate in his first outing. Allowing only a solo shot off the bat of the Babe through six innings. In the seventh he walks two and strikes out his record setting 11th batter before leaving for a reliever, who allows both runners to score sticking Gooden with a no decision. San Antonio loses its first game of the season, as Honus Wagner's multi hit game streak comes to an end at 4. He promptly started a new one the following game. After losing their home opener (and committing 2 more errors) the Lads of Louisville finally play an error free game and win their first game of the season 5-3. Walter Johnson pitches a complete game and Larry Walker drives in his first runs of the season with a bases loaded 3 run double in the fifth, sealing the deal. Omaha's 1st loss of the year was the direct result of the two players on the pre-season trade block in 3B Jimmy Collins (Error) and CL Mo Rivera (3 unearned runs).....Team spokesman was quoted as saying: "We are investigating these team leaks, the players shouldn't have even known." The fragility of the Blue Bags' closer will be an on-going story, stay tuned! |
