1991 Fender Stratocaster Plus

I purchased this instrument new in 1992 and it was the first good electric I owned. I always wanted a blue Stratocaster, so when my parents decided to buy me a guitar that I could use for a lifetime, this was the instrument I had to have. The subtle blue metallic burst is great because they don't make this exact finish anymore. The Strat Plus also has a lot of features that attracted me to it when I was looking for a good "working" guitar. The locking tuners and "roller nut" really help to keep it in tune extremely well. I also like the Lace Sensor pickups, which have a little different sound than the standard Strat pickups.

It's still in excellent shape and continues to serve as my main instrument for performances and recordings. I recently had the first 11 frets replaced, again by guitar repair expert Ron Kayfield at Arpeggio, because they had been rounded too many times from wear! I generally use GHS Boomers, 9 or 10 gauge on this one. I also use a Fat Finger on the headstock, which helps to increase sustain.
