| The Legend of Saguincendium | ||||
| I am going to tell you about the legend of Saguincendium. It is not a very happy story; in fact, a couple people die, but it must be told for the good of mankind. Now you may be thinking, "Who the heck is Saguincendium," or "what kind of name is that?" Well, I'll tell you what kind of name it is. It's a sorcerer's name. It's the sorcerer's name. It's the most cruel, evil sorcerer's name in the history of the entire world. Now again, you may be thinking, "oh, there"s no such thing as an 'evil sorcerer', they're called warlocks." Well, there's two reasons why he is not a warlock. One is that he used to be a nice, kind, friendly magician. And the other is that "warlock" is too kind and gentle of a word for what he truly is. 1313 A.D. Saguincendium could hear the screams and shrieks from his patient. "Calm down, calm down," shouted the magician, "I can't heal your soul without complete concentration, and I can't concentrate with you screaming after every two words I say!" "Ahhhh, help me," moaned the deranged woman. Saguincendium closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and shouted as loud as the screams from the sinner, "Qumay Octolarni Cemala Levaro!" And as soon as he had said the last word, the small red phantom within her seemed to be lifted toward the sky by invisible chains, and then disintegrated right in front of the couple's eyes. "Oh my god," panted the hysterical woman, "oh my god, thank you Senguin, thank you so much." "It's okay, it's all okay now, he's gone." "Senguin," the wizard said, "the lunatic of a lady called me 'Senguin.'" "It's okay, Saguin," Elizabeth answered, "everyone mispronounces your name." Elizabeth was Saguin's sister, and she was very dear to him. Saguincendium remembered hearing stories from his sister about why he was named what he was. It was his mother's idea. She had named him Saguincendium because when he was born, he had a huge gash on his wrist, and a single drop of blood dripped on the space where her heart laid. The drop was as red as fire, his mother had said, and that was what had named him. Sadly, one year after the day of Saguin's birth, his mother was told that she had the "flaming heart disease," an illness which slowly eats away your heart while creating a burning sensation. Elizabeth claimed that she could have been healed with Saguin's father's expertise, but he was diagnosed with the same disease four days before Saguin's birth, and died that same day. Saguin's mother died 13 days after the disease came to her. Even though Saguin was just a young page and Elizabeth only six, they managed to live off their father's fortune as a healer. Then Saguin learned magic. His mother had a small amount of wizard blood inside of her, even though she never learned the sacred art. Yet somehow, with help from his uncle Zontyd, he learned the basics, and used it to help people for a little extra income. Saguin still wished his name was different, but what he didn't know was that there was another reason he was named Saguincendium besides the drop of blood the color of fire. That reason was destiny. To be continued. . . |
