| Now I'll give a description of what each score means, at least when it's applied to the overall category ;) Perfection (Buy) ---------- 10 (Best): This game represents one as good as one could possibly hope for it to be for the time it was made. Greatly exceeds my rather high expectations of how much work a company should put into a game. The only game I've played that would have a chance at this is Super Mario Bros. 3 (for it's time, of course) Platinum (Buy) -------- 9+ (Legendary): This game is so excellent that I would highly recommend anyone to buy it. 9 (Classic): There are few of these per generation. Unless you specifically hate the genre the game is for, then in my opinion, you should buy it. 9-(Superlative): Fans of the genre should definately find enough fun in this one for it to be worth a purchase. Gold (Multiple Rental) ---- 8+ (Excellent): Although your personal taste could certainly warrant a buy, these games are probably better to rent a bunch of times. Of course, if you rent it once and don't like it, then you can just spit on my review and not rent it again :P 8 (Really Great): I'd reccomend anyone who doesn't hate the genre to rent this one, because you'll probably come back for more. 8- (Great): This kind of game is a good rental for most people, and then some people will want to play it again and some won't. Silver (rental) ------ 7+ (Really Good): A lot of games fall into this category: the kind of game that's really fun for one dedicated weekend, but then you kind of stare at it at the rental shelf and notice that you don't want to play it again. 7 (Good): These games are just one pier below the 7+s. They tend to appeal to a few less people, and they also tend to not quite last out the whole weekend, but I'd still recommend a rental here if you like the genre. 7- (Fine): Although they aren't as good as 7s, they are still just good enough that anyone who likes the genre should try this out, because they might be one of the few who end up really loving this game. Bronze (Rental) ------ 6+ (Decent), 6(not bad), 6- (fair): While games like this are really more of a lower-tier rental, they're still all right. they can have their rough spots, but they're still enjoyable (if you like the genre, of course), so they earn a bronze. Others (hm...Maybe not) ------ 5 (Mediocore): So there's nothing else up on the rental shelf, eh? Well, let's see, you can either rent this game, or play the games you've already played out. 5s will give you something to chew on, in fact, they might be kind of fun, but then that feeling will go away. 4 (Poor): This where you're sweating and starting to get a bit desperate. It has come to this: rent trash or rent nothing at all. This is the top tier of trash. 3 (Bad), 2 (terrible): These unplayable wrecks serve little purpose other than to entertain you, and they don't even do that well. These games were obviously made to rack in some quick cash. Red Award (Don't touch, it's contagious) --------- 1 (Red): You almost have to try to earn a 1. Nuff said. Good reviewing system eh? Now go read my reviews. |
