| Although most commercials are terrible, car commericals always manage to astound me with their pure idiocy. Next time you see any car commercial, try actually examining it. Nine times out of ten, they advertise needless bullshit that "comes standard" as if it's supposed to be a good thing. What happens if I don't want a 5-disc CD changer, a side airbags, or an oversized engine? At the end they always say something such as "and at this price, it's luxurious AND affordable". So for the last 100 years, every car was somewhere on the scale from "cheap and simple" to "expensive and luxurious", but now this car has somehow revolutionized the industry by offering a car that is "cheap and luxurious". They have magically made a car that costs less than it's worth. Who swallows this? Lets say you were shopping for a car. Now, what would you do? Maybe go to some websites, read some auto reviews, refer to friends, anything but base a multi-thousand dollar decision on a stupid commercial. If anything, the commercials would make you realize that the company could charge much less if they didn't spend so much money on ads. I wouldn't mind so much, but I was watching TV and came across the worst commercial I may have ever seen. Perhaps you've seen it? Here's a quick overview: Narrator: There's a memo that says everything must be conventional and predictible *shitty car drives up and rips up memo* Narrator: Funny, you never got that memo (That "funny" is the most annoying part) What's supposed to be unconventional about this car? I forget what it was, but it was like most cars I've seen. It ran on fuel, had four tires, looked very similar to your average car, hell, even the drivers seat was on the left side. There wasn't a single glaring thing about it that was unconventional. Maybe the car could go fast? That would come in handy if all those speed limits and cops somehow vapourized. And don't get me started on unpredictable. Oooh, a car company is creating a 2005 version of a model 6 months before the year even started. That's never happened before in automotive history. Except for every year for the last 30 years. |
