The Mental Challenge Behind ESRB Ratings
Created: December 20th
Media Wise has released their 8th Annual Video Game Report Card. Now before you ask "Why in God's name is there a Video Game Report Card", I want to point out something even dumber.

"Only 50% of parents understand the ratings according to students"

Oh! Well you're lucky I'm here, because I'm going to give you guys a much-needed crash-course in ESRB Ratings Education:

- When the box has a giant E on it accompanied by the word Everyone it means the game is for everyone.

All right, am I going to fast for you idiots? Let me repeat:
When the Ratings Box has the word Everyone on it, it means it is suitable for everyone.

- Next on the list: The giant T accompanied by the word Teen on it
means it's for teens (or older). Oh wait, let me explain what this "Teen" is. I know these guys at ESRB are using words too fancy and technological for your little minds to comprehend. Teens are of the age of 13 or older. That means the game is made for people 13 or older.

All right, let's see if we all have this down; Everyone means it's for everyone, Teen means it's for Teen. Understand? Good, because this next one's really tricky.

- The last type of game has giant M accomanied by the phrase "Mature 17+". Now this one is indeed tough. What does the cryptic "17" stand for? 17 months old? See, this is where it gets confusing.
The 17 actually stands for years. That means you should be 17 years of age to play this game. You can be older than 17 and still play it, that's what the "+" stands for.

All right class, that's it for today. Tommorow we're going to learn the letter "N".

I really dislike it when people talk trash about Video Games. They're a fun hobby. Where do people get off saying Video Games encourage laziness? Hello? I'm playing an interactive game, and you're sitting in front of a television where you don't have to do shit, and I'm the one who's lazy? That makes a whole lot of sense.

I remember when Rap Music was blamed for everything. Someone killed someone else. Oh well it couldn't be because he was a pyschotic loser, it must have been the fucking rap music. Same thing with video games. Games like Grand Theft Auto (everyone's favourite) come out and the murder rate actually drops, but the remaining murders
must have been caused by the game as if people haven't been murdering other people since the dawn of man!

Some polititian in New York actually tried to put a "fat tax" on video games. Well, why don't you tax chairs, they make people lazy. Or swering machines, I mean, there isn't much activity in sewing. Or maybe put a tax on Personal Web Pages, they sure encourage me to waste my life away writing rants that no one will read.
People still can't understand the ESRB rating system, because they're freakin' stupid.
