| Ok, a couple of problems that we'll try and nip in the bud. Problem #1 - BYU won't play on Sundays Much to the surprise apparantly of the NCAA, it turns out that BYU does not play any games on Sundays for religious reasons. Of course, the NCAA in their infinite wisdom stuck them in the South where in the event they make it to the regional game, they would be scheduled to play on ... (drumroll please) ... you guessed it ... SUNDAY! Nice move, fellas. The NCAA's answer to this problem they created was equally as mystifying. In the event BYU wins 2 games, they will switch over to the Midwest bracket, swapping places with the survivor of the Wisconsin - Dayton bracket. That of course presents a problem for the pool, so here is the final ruling on the matter: If you think BYU will make it past the 2nd round, you will need to map it all out on your sheet and insert them into the appropriate slot in the Midwest bracket, and vice versa with whoever you had emerge from the Midwest originally. There now, wasn't that simple? And don't ask me why they couldn't just move the game to Saturday and have one of the Saturday matchups moved to Sunday. That would be too simple I guess. Problem #2 - The 3/18/03 "Play in game" between Texas Southern and UNC Asheville. You do NOT need to pick this game. It is being played on Tuesday 3/18/03. The winner of that game is then slotted in as the #16 seed in the South against Texas. If you think whoever wins/won that game will beat Texas, well, be my guest and write them in. |
