| Several of the big boys survived scares yesterday as Florida, Georgetown, and North Carolina surprisingly found themselves locked in life and death struggles with their underdog opponents last evening. In the best game of the night, the upstart Vanderbilt Commodores pushed Georgetown to the brink of disaster with the Hoyas pulling out a 66-65 win on a controversial basket in the waning moments. Georgetown's Jeff Green hit a spinning bank shot with 2.5 seconds to go to give the Hoyas a 1 point lead, but replays showed he lifted his pivot foot prior to putting his shot up, a clear traveling violation, but it was completely missed by the officials. Alas, Georgetown lives to fight another day. Survive and advance. That's all you need to do at this point. Survive and advance. Also surviving and advancing was somebody named "Aaron Perlman." Not quite sure who the heck he is, but he's now in first place. Matter of fact, I never heard of him before aside from this somewhat cryptic posting on the message board: |
