Country roads,
take me home,
To the place I belong,
West Virginia.
Well, West Virginia won't be needing those country roads to take them home just yet. Nope, the #7 Mountaineer's continued their run through the Albuquerque region last evening as they defeated The General, Bobby Knight, and his #6  ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders.  Adios, Coach Knight. Don't let the chair hit ya on the way out.
This evening's TV viewing schedule is as follows:
A quick peak at the leaderboard shows Dave Allard still holding on to the top spot:
West Virginia will now face off against the Louisville Cardinals as Rick Pitino's boys thumped the top seeded Washington Huskies last night 93-79. The  game was never even close from about the midpoint of  the first half and the NCAA now knows what all of us knew on selection Sunday: Washington did not deserve to be seeded ahead of  the Cardinals . The other early game last night saw the nation's #1 team,  Illinois,  thoroughly dispose of upstart UW-Milwaukee 77-63. Illiniois has yet to be tested through 3 rounds, which on its face sounds great for them. But there's an old NCAA axiom that says you can't win the championship without having had your back against the wall at some point in the tourney. We'll see.

As for the Commish, I'm what Chris "Boomer" Berman would describe as  "back-back-back-back." I'm currently hunkered down in a logjam of a tie in 50th place, safely eliminated from contention. I think I need to buy more than a vowel, Vanna.

In the most exciting game of the evening (or so I'm told as I was snoozin' long before it was over) #3 Arizona got a jumper from Salim Stoudamire with just under 3 seconds to play to oust the #2 seeded Oklahoma St Cowboys.  Arizona now gets a shot at running into the buzzsaw known as the Fighting Illini.

Have a Good Friday.
