| HOLY MACKERAL! HOLY MACKERAL! HOLY MACKERAL! (fuel for the soul) |
| Ok, it may have lacked the drama of all those dramatic buzzer beaters that they show in those Pontiac "fuel for the soul" commercials, but ho Nellie! Out goes Kentucky!?? Just like that? Wow. Simply wow. Also out "just like that" are more than half the participants in this year's pool it would seem. The #3 seeded Marquette Warriors, err ... I mean Golden Eagles, pulled off one of the biggest shockers of the tournament in knocking off the heavilly favored Wildcats 83-69. And believe me ... it wasn't even as close as that. Kentucky got whacked like a mafia capo turned informant from the very get go. Marquetted held a commanding lead at the half and was up by over 20 late in the game. And in case you're wondering, one person actually had Marquette in the final 4. Yes, Greg Sioch, son of "Corinne "did they check for Radon in your basement?" Watterworth, called that one. Kinda fitting given his mom is the only who had Michigan State getting to where they are now. Even blind pigs find some acorns once in a awhile I guess. |

I will be phoning in the leaderboard to Bill Corcoran who will be posting a message on the pool's message board to that effect. So check there sometime Monday to see who is leading. Missed an update? | Saturdays other game pitted my #2 Kansas Jayhawk squad against the Arizona Wildcats in a nailbiter that saw Arizona's game tying 3 point attempt get blocked only to grab the rebound and have the next one clang off the rim as time expired. And thanks to that the Commissioner lives to fight another day. Phew! As I was one of only 34 people with Kansas in the West, that enabled me to jump up 30 some odd places to #52 overall. Still behind the rest of my family (for now), but ahead of Sebastian and Ugly Mike. If Texas prevails tomorrow over Michigan State this will mark the 3rd straight year I will head into the Final 4 with a chance to finish in 1st. Not that I'm bragging or anything. |
