We didn't start out this adventure with the idea of going to see lots of movies, but we just couldn't help ourselves...it all started on a cold night in Tucson, AZ with the idea that we would see 2 movies for the price of one, then hide inside the theater and spend the night- alas, we didn't succeed in spending the night, but we saw 2 movies for $3.50 and we were hooked....

Training Day. Greg gives this flic a big thumbs up based on fabulous acting by Denzel Washington, where as Glen says it was just ok....a bit too hollywood.
Zoolander. Just like Austin Powers...funny as heck for about 15 minutes, but should have been left as a 15 minute skit. We still laughed our heinies off.

Vanilla Sky. Makes Greg's top 10 movies of all time list. Packed with philosophy, suspense, moral lessons, and a few hot babes, this movie is a winner! Glen's recommendation is to see the Spanish movie that Vanilla Sky is based on, 'Abre los Ojos'. This movie is almost an exact copy, and the original is a bit better, if you can handle subtitles or speak spanish fluently.
Oceans Eleven. Pretty good Hollywood style movie, actually a total Hollywood formula movie. Too many unbelievable stunts and after Vanilla Sky it was a bit of a let down. Greg simply says, "It sucked"
Harry Potter. We both thought it sucked. Not to offend all you Potter fans, we are sure it was a great illustration of the book, but niether of us has read any Potter. Sorry.
Shallow Hal. Funny as heck. Jason Alexander and Jack Black are a great comic duo. They play completely clueless losers with a penchant for hot babes. It also delivers some good life lessons from, who else, the great self help guru Anthony Robbins (ie Horse Face)
We now enter a new country and have to develop a new movie going technique. We found out, through much spanglish, that movies are cheap in Mexico on Wednesdays. So, needless to say, we are seeing movies on Wednesdays in Mexico. The 2 for 1 deals don't work well in Mexico, but the movies only cost about $1.60, so who's complaining.

El Seor de los Anillos (Lord of the Rings). Very impressive cinematography, very beautiful scenery, but just didn't do it for us. Like Harry Potter, geared towards those who are already big fans of the book. We'll give it 2 tacos.
Ni Una Palabra (Don't Say a Word). Some impressive acting, and a pretty good story line, but a little too obvious and the end was full of Arnoldesque one liners. I must admit they hooked me a bit and I was a little teary eyed on my way out. 3 tacos, with salsa and some crema.
Vida Bandida (Bandits). Glen saw this one alone, as Greg went to Vanilla Sky for another dose. I laughed my hienie off in this flic. Billy Bob Thorton was the best part of the movie, he played a wimpy hypochondriac crook who is trying to get out of the business and retire in Mexico (not a bad idea says me). One of the best parts of this movie was looking at the translation of some of the more subtle jokes, of which there were plenty. Often times I was the only one in the Theater laughing..."what's up with that crazy gringo?" This gets 4 tacos with all the trimmings.
1 to 5 taco rating system, with condiments.
