I began looking into my family history when my grandmother, Mary Orcutt decided to move to an assisted living community (at the ripe young age of 92). Upon going through all of the things in the house that she could not take with her, I came across a lot of my Grandfather's papers, awards, newspaper articles and his death certificate. My grandfather (Selwyn Francis Orcutt) meant a lot to me, and I never got to know him that well (he died when I was 12). One thing I did know was that Selwyn was a junior and professional tennis player.
I decided to look into finding information about him online. It wasn't too long until i came up empty handed. There just aren't that many newspaper articles online about my grandfather.
I decided to go as close to the source as possible, so I visited my grandmother. She had a lot of information to share and got me started on my way. After looking and looking I just wasn't able to find much beyond Leon Forrest Orcutt, my great grandfather.
I happened upon an orcutt geneology bulletin board and left a post there. That is where a person by the name of Matthew Getz dropped everything I wanted and more right into my lap. Thanks Matt!!
Anyhow, on this site you will find what I have to date. I am still searching, hopefully to trace my lineage back to Clan Urquhart.
