Here we gather once again.Everyone should be brightly dressed, with flowers or greenery in their hair. A May Pole of 10 to 12 feet high should be erected in the center of the circle. It, too, should be brightly decorated. Circle it with thirteen candles.
On a separate table, opposite the altar, lay a greenery or floral wreath. Within it sit a crystal ball and/or a black mirror....ours will have 2 black mirrors, back-to-back and one ball. Torches should be placed around the outside of the circle and much floral incense lit about the circle. All participating will carry candles set inside glass jars. Altar faces the east, with five candles on it. Corner candles are light in jars, sitting on altar. People selected to call each corner goes to altar and picks up candle and places it in place, as they call the corners...east, south, west, and north.
"Our Goddess is a Lady of Joy; the winds are Her servant.
Our Goddess is a Goddess of Love. At Her blessing and desire the Sun brings forth life anew.
The seas are the domains of our Lady; the mysteries of the depths are Hers alone.
The Lady is most awesome. The powers of death bow before Her."The HPS now takes her wand and starting from the east, circles the perimeter, stating:
"I conjure and cast this circle a circle of love, peace, and joy.
This circle is sealed, and all herein are totally and completely set apart from the outside world, that we may glorify the Lady, whom we adore. Blessed Be!"HPS holds wand overhead:
"Bright is the light of the brands ye hold. For here we celebrate the sacred night of Beltane and the flowering-forth of the woods and meadows."HP holds athame or sword overhead:
"We here do call and bid our Goddess to be with us. She was once called The Lady of May the Goddess of all things wild...of trees, of skies, and of waters. Be with us here. Blessed Be!"The HPS kneels or dips before the HP, places a chaplet of flowers and ribbons on her head. Then the HP kneels or dips as the HPS places garland or mask of leaves on his head. They pick up their jars with candles, which had been placed on second altar. The HPS steps in front of the easternmost person while the HP steps in front of the westernmost person. All hold candles in front and slightly upward as they make one complete circle to the deosil...side, front, side, back. When back in place the outer circle turns and places candles behind them and well out of the way. HPS and HP return candles to original place. Instruct all to hold hands and continue to circle for 7 more times while HPS and HP recite:
HPS stands before altar, arms lifted:
"Our friends of the night, of mist, and of moonlight...
You, who are seldom seen, be with us now.
And spread apart the veil of Being that we may look beyond."
HP stands before altar, arms lifted:
"O elementals of the air, fire, water and earth Hearken to your sign. Open the windows of where and when, and let us see beyond."
HPS:
"O Lady of magic and silence, We have gathered the sprites and faeries of nature to help us delve into that which lies beyond. We ask that you make strong and keen our inner eyes as we search through the veil, and let only influences that are good enter within the circle. This rite is your, oh Lady of Mystery. Be with us, we ask. Blessed be!"
HPS points wand and HP points athame toward pole:
"All of you, look upon this pole, seeing in your minds eyes the pure life force rising through it from the Earth, blossoming overhead, and cascading down through us, flowing out from us to the Ladys world beyond...Look...and see Life!"
Pause in silence for at least 30 seconds. Then HPS goes to easternmost person while HP goes to westernmost person, leading each to opposite side of the second altar, where they are instructed to gaze into the crystal ball or peer within the depths pf the black mirror, seeking whatever feeling, impression, or picture comes to them. They spend only a few moments before being lead back to their places and the next are lead in. HPS:
"We do thank all who have been with us here this evening, Those whom we cannot see, and those who are not of this world, and we thank the Blessed One for the insights given during this time."
HPS and HP return to main altar, pick up tray of food and glass of wine. Lift high in honor of the Goddess. Sit back on table and HPS touches wand to food asking for blessing. HP lifts athame overhead and into wine, asking for blessing. They feed each other and offer wine to each other. Then a small amount of each is given to the Goddess, before passing it around to the circle.
HPS starts at east, going widdershins, as she closes the circle:
"In your name O Gracious Lady, do I dissolve away this circle. Let those who have celebrated go in love and peace to honor your name. The circle is ended. All power to the Goddess!"
"All Power to the Goddess!"
