DAFFODIL'S
THE  DAFFODIL'S

Way up on the hills of Mt Te Uku there is a grove of Daffodils, they have quite a history.
They are thought to have been planted by early settlers
who lived in a cottage there about the 1850s and 1860s.
Every spring they still flower.

These early settlers were Joseph Pretty and his wife and Family who settled on our farm after the Maori wars.
They had eleven children, one of their sons was Dave Pretty 6ft6'' tall weighing 16st10lbs
He was a champion all round Athlete famous as a axeman, sawyer, boxer, runner and
junper.
He was the world record holder in axemanship and other sports.

Sometimes I ride one of my Arab horses up to their house site to admire
the flowers that were planted so long ago.
