Instructions for the TOFOG Texas DVD

Thank you to those who sent these to me to collect and post for all to use.... really helpful to many, I'm sure. I am adding comments as they are posted, which might be helpful.

EDITORIAL NOTE: There has been a great deal of discussion re the language. PLEASE don't deny yourself seeing the DVD because of it. No one is MORE offended than I by a certain word being so casually used, but I am really happy I have the DVD - it is such a wonderful souvenir, and very funny, great music, a glimpse into the band's hopes and hard work, and into the crazy life of Russell. Run out and get it, Folks! It is well worth the price. S.

OPEN NOTE TO RUSSELL: I was at the show where you claimed we'd be f**king around with all the tricks even a year from now......ah, my naive RussMuffin, your fans are a very smart bunch. You haven't finished the two- week tour, and we've seen the whole thing. Bruno better get off his a** so we can finish it. And Brendan still follows you around, doesn't he? Hope so. Anyway, thanks and na na na na boo boo to you all.

FROM Kris at the Perch:

I took Danya's method from one of the DVD threads and found most of the sections. One actually still said Access Denied and may need a code. Either that, or I did it wrong.

I started the disc and once the FBI warning was on, I hit the Display button. That showed me that there were 18 tracks, so I entered each number (1-18 ) , one at a time and saw what popped up. This does not mean chapters or angles (for instance, the "Texas" feature has many individual chapters and different angles which actually give you different footage to watch). I'm not going to go into all of those variables. I haven't watched them all and it would take way too long. Just push "Angle" when the Drill Bit appears and "Enter" when the Running Man appears and you find that stuff easily. My notes are really scribbly, so this may not be perfect. You'll have to play yourself.

Track 1 - Texas
Track 2 - Things Have Got to Change
Track 3 and 4 - both gave me Memorial Day. One may be individual and one may be linked to THGTC. I'm not sure and didn't play much.
Track 5 - Circus - 4 chapters are listed:
1 is the video.
2 leads into The Photograph Kills. Is that Mark talking about the name? ! ? hee hee
3 is What's Her Name, with the beginning from Andrew Denton.
Track 6 - also gave me Circus, again, not sure if I did it right.
Track 7 - What's Her Name, same as above.
Track 8 - TPK, same as above.
Track 9 - Nowhere with Kevin Durand in Austin (also accessible by going thru Italy photos into BAFTA photos into SubBAFTA photos)
Track 10 - extra footage, starting with the cellphone on stage in Austin. Leads into the - 3 Odd Foot menu. Called BONUS. The RunningMan gives you 1.5 Odd Foot. Somewhere there is a BONUS Texas, but it said access denied.
Then there are Secret Bonus Photos - that's where I saw Russell reading his Schizophrenia book on a plane.
Track 11 - Dave K saying they're the "wittiest band" - some THGTC in rehearsal, etc. Goes to - 3 Odd Foot. That's where I found 60 Odd Hours in Italy. Didn't watch it yet - not sure if anything is after it. This also kinda took me in a loop to Track 13 which is the 60 Odd Hours in Italy again and Sub Zero Outtakes - smart ass, rude footage - more of the usual! !
Going backwards to Track 12 - Studio footage, Russ and Dean, etc. Goes back to - 3 Odd Foot and Italy and the Outtakes.
Track 13 and 14 - 60 Odd Hours in Italy
Track 15 - DVD Info Guy
Track 16 - All the White Circles, which is also in "Texas", I think, with multiple angles.
Track 17 - Afraid (ditto)
Track 18 - David (ditto)

Since I didn't watch every section in depth, it probably took less than an hour to go thru all this. I fastforwarded thru some, and skipped other parts that I'd seen already.

Sheeps here. Just want to mention a few little problems I had to solve. First, my DVD remote does have a button marked "DISPLAY", but it is different from Kris's, evidently, because although it will give me a display, it is not an interactive display - I cannot manipulate any numbers there. So on my remote, I push a button called "SEARCH MODE" and that gives me a little box in the upper left corner, which is interactive. I can set "Title" and "Chapter" there. Also, my button marked "ENTER" is useless in the case of this DVD. Doesn't do anything...S.

Re: what am i doing wrong?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
the oil derrick area is where we'll have to use the secret codes when Bruno gets around to posting them...if you do a search or have a display key you want to go to track 14..

Re: what am i doing wrong?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ladybug, this is how I did it. Hit display at the FBI screen, hit your right arrow which takes you to the place where you enter a number and then hit enter. At the top of the display you will see 1/18 which means the 1st of 18 extras is being played. Good luck!

Re: DVD Tricks Instructions are posted.....

Sheeps,

My son was playing with the DVD and figured out how to get the written lyrics to the songs:
During a chapter that features a song hit the DVD menu to get the lyrics to appear.

He was checking it out and says he thinks there is more on this DVD than we have discovered yet. He read the back of the jacket and is pretty sure there is more for us to discover. Russell may get the last laugh yet.

Notes to people who do NOT get anything interesting or any 1 - 18 when they hit display at the FBI copyright warning:

I didn't realize that one of the icons that come up at the top of the screen when I hit display is for the titles/chapters.

I forgot what my icon looks like, but I hit the display button, then the channel up or arrow up button. One of the items changes from T - 1 to T - 2, etc. That's how I scrolled up to find Tracks 10, 14, etc. Whatever. That's how I found some extra stuff. It was still on the screen with the oil derrick and where you have to input some numbers for the code numbers, but the display button lets you find the chapters. Some people can input the track numbers, but like on my DVD, you have to scroll. Anyway, each person's DVD player is different, so just try following the directions given here or on Sheeps' website or play around with the buttons.
