Talk to Me - Notes

Talk to Me - Notes

Just a little bit of fun play between Logan and Marie, a meta-narrative between his arrival and his late night manly bonding with Bobby in X2. Rogue seemed to shrink from the whole Bobby-Logan confrontation, especially when Jean glided down the staircase. Maybe she was making her way to his room, making him feel at home. It fit with my image of Rogue keeping up Logans quarters, making it ready for him whenever he might come back. It also seemed a great explanation for where Logan got the cigar when he was talking to the Professor and explained some of Bobbys discomfort in being around Logan when he finally wandered into the kitchen hed finally met the man that Rogue had been talking about all those months.

Songwriting credit goes to a friend of Nicks names Chas, who also penned John Waites hit song, Missing You. She really wanted the vocal to rock and when Jim Keltner came in to lay down some of the background drums, Stevie had him sit where she could see him and sing to him. She really needed an audience to get this one right, she said.

As for Rogue, I think that this song is running through her mind when Logan catches her in the opening line. In the space of ten minutes, Storm dumped babysitting on him, he ogled Jean and pissed off Scott. Not too many people for him to debrief with before he goes to see the Professor. It would only take a quick fifteen minutes for him to down some Jack, light up a Cuban and tell Rogue what he found out. His use of her personal name underscores the sense of intimacy they have with each other his demons are hers as well. She is probably the one person he would trust to talk to in that whole house. Unfortunately for Logan, his body went on autopilot for a moment and now hes got another Logan vs. the good guy thing going on. Despite the fact that he knows shes safe, he now doesnt trust himself with her.
