I always wondered how Rogue experienced the rush of power the came whenever her skin came into contact with anothers. It seemed fair to say that she concentrated the most on touch because that was the one sense that is denied to her.
Sight and sound are higher orders of sensing. The ability to distinguish one visual or auditory stimulus from another is gained through growth and experience. Smell, taste and especially touch are the ones we instinctively use during our first moments of life. Its been proven that babies wither without it. Rogue despairs of ever knowing what it is to be skin-to-skin with another human being. Safe sex takes on a new meaning for her. David, Eric, Bobby and John, I would bet that all of them were virgins. Im basing my surmise about Magneto on McKellans interpretation. Magneto seems to uptight to do anything so demeaning as give into his baser instincts and waste his DNA on sex. Im also betting that the concentration camps made him wary of touch. David, Bobby and John were all too young. But Logan, he was most definitely a sexual being. I could just see Jean and Ororo calling him a heaping help of hormones poured into skintight jeans. And Rogue is not immune. Shes taken on more than a few of Logans charming personality traits by Jeans estimation in X-Men. That probably includes exuding sexuality. Witness the way she held her body in X2. She didnt even know she was doing it, but she was practically oozing sex as she sat in food court. When she realized that one of the guys was ogling her, I thought I saw her push inner-Logan out of the way and let Marie take over. Too damn funny! And then Bobby had to practically pull her out of the foyer, back into the common room when Logan showed up. Logan had this funny look on his face and she was standing very, very close to him. Its as if her body missed his. I know the feeling. Rooms on Fire was written by Nicks about Rupert Hine, who produced her fourth solo album, The Other Side of the Mirror. He was older, he was smarter and we both knew it, Nicks writes of Hine in the liner notes of her compilation album Timespace. She goes on to describe the experience of being with him in Rooms. I think its a lot like that for Marie when shes with Logan, and now the long nets of white fire and ice from John and Bobby cloud her memory of him. |
