There are at least three complete versions that I tossed because they didnt fit the quote I pulled and Ill be damned if I throw up something off-target and half-assed. The stiff dose of German-Norwegian-Scottish-Irish-Welsh pride I inherited from my mom and dad gets in the way like that sometimes.
So I looked at my empty can of Diet Dr. Pepper the one decorated with my very own Logan, fabulous gratuitous butt shot and all and I said to him, What would really jam a serrated spoon into your heart? No, the can did not answer back. But my Evil Twin, Y Cuan Gwyrdd, decided that Marie was going to try and be all grown up and brave before Logan could treat her like a kid. Cue the music, cue the lights, camera on Rogue as Logan watches her emotional meltdown in the moonlight. Action, and that moment passes when she is both child and woman in his eyes. He realizes what a jerk hes been just going off and leaving her alone. Cut to Logan prowling around the Blackbird as Jean comes down the stairs. Oh, the agony and the ecstacy. At last, here was a keeper! Nicks wrote this song about 9/11. She was staying at the Waldorf-Astoria when the planes hit. One of the sentences from her journal that broke my heart: I have seen grown men cry today. They seem to be having the most trouble with this. They are the protectors and they feel so helpless. Oh, Miss Stevie, your soft and gentle words wound more than any weapon of war. FYI - the Washer at the Ford is a mythic figure from Celtic folklore. She is often depicted as either an old hag or a beautiful young woman who is washes the clothes of those who will die in battle the next day. Was Rogue wearing Jeans jacket? |
