Greenon began the evening with a loss 45-27 loss to Urbana in their first match, but then rebounded with a convincing 43-28 victory over Tecumseh. Doug Szczublewski and Freshman Kevin Christensen were the top wrestlers for Greenon for the evening as they each garnered two wins by pin. Jeremiah Lay and Tim Jessup also notched two wins and Zach Treolo won his only match of the night.
In the first match, Greenon squared off against Urbana and fell behind quickly as Urbana took control early on their way to winning 8 of the individual matches in a 45-27 win. Greenon was able to win four of the individual matches against Urbana. Veteran wrestlers Doug Szczublewski and Jeremiah Lay both won by pin, and newcomer freshman Kevin Christensen, who was wrestling in his first match at Greenon and is trying to follow in the footsteps of older brother Sean, showed his wrestling mettle as he pinned his opponent in his first career match for Greenon. The other victory for Greenon was an exciting 13-12 victory by Tim Jessup.
Greenon then wrestled Tecumseh in the second match, and what most people thought would be a close match quickly turned into a route for Greenon as they were able to handily defeat Tecumseh 43-28. Greenon won 8 of the individual matches as Seniors Doug Szczublewski, Jeremiah Lay, and Zach Treolo won their matches. Kevin Christensen, Kevin Herriman, Tim Jessup, and Neal Henning won their matches by pin and Mike Sheets was able to nab a close 7-6 victory in his match.
Greenon's record for the season is now 1-1.
