Sabriel
By: Garth Nix
Sabriel's father is the Keeper of the Bells who makes the dead in the Old Kingdom stay dead. He is called Abhorsen. When her father goes missing in the Old Kingdom, Sabriel must take up her own bells and go across the wall to find him. But evil lurks on the other side of the wall, for the things ment to create balance have deteriorated. With a cat-shaped friend named Mogget and a man who has been in the river of death for years named Touchstone, Sabriel must save her father from death and those who just won't stay in it.
Exerpt:
"...Five Great Charters knit the land
together linked, hand in hand
One in the people who wear the crown
Two in the folk who keep the Dead down
Three and Five became stone and mortar
Four see all in frozen water..."

My Opinion: This is my all time favorite book!!! The dipiction of the two different kingdoms and the wall between them is just phenominal. The whole idea of the Charter and portrayal of death is just ingenious. A great book with something for everyone!!! Read this or you are missing out!!!
