Questions

1. How do you know Hatgirl? From O.C.C., Souls Harbor, and Friday Night Bible Study.

2. Why should Hatgirl include you in a Heretic cartoon?
The He-man Woman Hater Club was misguided, the Proverbs 31:3's all sold out and got girlfriends, and the Bachelors till the Rapture are showing signs of weakness. I will renew the zeal for my Fathers' house and will not divide my devotion but I will give Him all my strength and all of my days. Martin Luther had his 99 doctrinal thesis.  I bring forth:

SINGLIOLOGY
CODEPENDANCE ON CHRIST ALONE
A BASIS FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING
The Missing Link in Systematic Theology

So many in the Christian church today think that we all need to settle down, find a mate, and raise up children to walk in God's ways. It is so common that it is expected, so much to the point that the "Gift of Singleness" is almost feared. Now I'm not accusing everyone but it seems as though Christians just assume they do not have the gift of singleness.  They may pray something like this, "Oh Lord my God let your will be done.  I want to do what is pleasing to you and to have only what you want me to have.  I put my future in your hands. I give it all to you…But please send me a wife/husband who does what is right in your eyes Lord."

Now we know that is good and right in the sight of the Lord for a man and a woman to be united together, for it is written something along the lines of "It is not good for the man to be alone" (Gen 2: 18).  I think that is absolutely true, but I think the answer is more along the line of co-dependance. Co-dependance on Christ that is.  For some it is good to be married.  The Lord has ordained that the man he has chosen should be united with the woman he has chosen for him. But I think that sometimes God chooses some for Himself, not to be given away to a man or a woman, but to be consecrated to Himself in loving devotion. We know this as the Gift of Singleness. Though this concept is somewhat foreign to many Christians, it is not foreign to God in His word.

For we have become the sons and daughters of God by the work of our Lord Jesus or Yeshua the Messiah. God has freed us.  We were once slave to sin but we are now slaves to righteousness. For in days of old God told His people, "You will be for Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation" (Exo. 19:6).  For in the days of Old it was His people, even within His people He designated specific tribe to transport the Ark of the Covenant, which was where the presence of Elohim the Lord God almighty dwelled, between the Cherubim. But now Christ has reconciled us to our Lord, we have be washed clean of our sins and found Holy in His eyes for Christ has bought us. He paid for us with His own blood, so that we could become sons and daughters of God, we are the family of God.

How much more now have we become His Holy Priests, consecrated to His will, under Christ the righteous and perfect High Priest. So we should devote ourselves wholly and completely to the Lord. For did not our dear Lord tell us through the writings we have received from Paul,

I would like you to be free from concern.  An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs  – how he can please the Lord; but  married man is concerned about the affairs of this world – how he can please his wife – and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs;  Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit.  But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.  I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord (1 Cor. 7:32-35).

But Paul is not the only one who has come to this conclusion, for even one of the wisest man who has ever lived, knew this when he wrote with his wisdom saying, "Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings" (Proverbs 31:3).  This is not to put down a woman for is not woman a wonderful gift from God?  For what other creation was made in His image and as a gift in itself to those around it?  For it is the same for her.  Does not a man take her best years, while she is young, working zealously and vigorously for the Lord, her loving Father?  So no one is better than the other for they both meet the same conclusion.  The woman takes the man's strength and the man takes the woman's strength.

For did not Solomon also write much more concerning these things?  "Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes, so he departs.  He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand" (Ecc. 5:15).   This a chasing after the wind, it is meaningless, for a man's life is but a mist. He did not come into this world with a mate neither shall he leave with one, for the bonds of this world which are seen are not eternal.  For when the body dies so do all of its connections from the physical world.  We see blood and its bond only lasts until death, but we know that what is not seen that is eternal.  So knowing this and that we become brothers and sisters in God's family by faith, we know it is for eternity.  For the bond that ties us together is not seen, for it is eternal. So let us keep our minds on what is eternal, and let us devote ourselves to the Lord and His service in this short life.

This is not to say that some should not marry and bear children, for if they did not there would be no longer be in a generation or two because there would be no children to leave in this world to persevere. So let some be joined together, strengthening one another and others to be consecrated to the Lord alone.  But let neither look down at the other, rather encourage one another as Christ encourages us. For it is the same Spirit who lives in each of us.

But let us take the time to think of some of our brothers who were called to be consecrated to the Lord:
ELIJAH the great prophet, JOHN THE BAPTIST, PAUL, EZEKIEL, JEREMIAH, ELISHA, JOHN, GOD THE FATHER, HOLY SPIRIT, JESUS, ANGELS, EHUD, possibly SHAMGAR AND MORE...

It’s too bad Jesus did not give us a beautiful command like “Be single for I am single."  But He didn't.  Oh well. Our life is still to imitate His, so I say imitate Him exactly.  Jesus was single so I want to be single.
Who needs a mate anyway?
