The Steel Smiths


ST Mission: Information

The Steel Smiths are found only in the Chasm, they have no need to go elsewhere. The smiths themselves have no mouths and so cannot speak, but any telepathic character can communicate with them. The smiths won't initiate a conversation themselves.

The smiths are creatures made of pure living steel, it's the only way they can with stand the intense heat that they often encounter. Every smith is involved in building something or working metal, what that is they won't directly say. Whatever it is they are doing, they will continue to do regardless of what the characters do. If a character tries to interfer the smith will swat the offender away, probably into the nearest wall. The smiths are very strong, and only the strongest of characters would be more than a moments effort for them.

They will assume that the characters are not sentient unless they can "speak." Once the characters prove they are sentient the smiths will gladly "talk" to them, although they will not cease working. Depending on the conversation, the charaters might find that:

Where are we?
-We are in Gotshom. (Explained as here, not any more specific.)

What are you making/building?
-We are making the parts for the building of the future.

How do we get home?
-What do you mean, you're not from here? Where else is there?

Who's in charge?
-The molten metal at the bottom of the chasm is what rules their lives.
(This is metaphorical, the metal is not alive.)

Also feel free to make up anything that seems fitting.
