The Tiger's Eye

Storyteller: Up for Grabs

Called the Tiger's Eye because of it's unusal color and cut this very light colored Emerald rests in the center of the Portal. In the very early part of the study of the Portal Gnter arranged to have a jeweler appraise it. After painstakingly careful removal from it's place, and an assurance that the jeweler would never be able to find his way back to the testing area, it was appraised. The jeweler offered quite sum of money upon first seeing the Eye, and tripled his offer after a study of it. He reported that not only was the Eye absolutely flawless, it's cut was more precise than any he'd ever seen, and it's composition was a wonder to behold.

While the jewel was being studied and it's origin guessed at, Amazu used the oppurtunity to test how the portal would work without it. The results were not heartening. When they could manage to get enough power into the machinery and the Stones, the objects that were placed in the Portal were either destroyed or simply disappeared. Amazu quickly concluded that without the gem, the portal was simply a fancy way to melt things.

The gem itself is 9cm long, 6cm wide, and 3cm tall. It is a very pale green and completely translucent. Reportedly vauled at somewhere near two hundred thousand dollars, and quite possibly the largest emerald in the world, it is possible that were word to get out of it's existence, on could find itself without a gem, or a Portal. 1
