MICROPALEO KITS FOR JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS

The following items and instructions gives the student a knowledge of the techniques and methods for doing paleontological work. The advantage of the micro kits is that they can be stored in the classroom without having to build a new building to house the dinosaurs, even megafossils [clams, snails etc] take a good deal of curator space. The micro fossils serve to explain the concepts of fossilization, stratigraphic and environmental distribution, evolution [change in shape and form], and helps develop observation skills necessary for the work in the 21st century. This leads into collecting from local fossil beds where the student becomes familiar with geological field techniques.Note: Most schools have microscopes available in the biology department, however, physical science teachers are not fully familiar with how to present concepts and ideas about physical science with their use. This "Micropaleo Kit" is only one of many steps that gives knowledge to the student about earthscience and how to discover and explore the earth with their knowledge of how to use the "Kit". Also most schools have drying ovens, however, this is not necessary as the samples can be dried on a hot plate orair dried before bagging. ITEMS IN THE KIT:  1. Explanation pamphlet for the instructor.
 2. Instructions for the student.
 3. Kit Box.
