Harleys Rule!

Dunedin has been the host to over 2,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles. They came from all over the country, descending on Dunedin for a weekend convention.

They had many events to attend and were available for people to see the bikes close up.

Sadly the event wasnt publicised outside the biking fraternity, so I wasnt able to go and see as much as I wouldve liked.

They spent today, Saturday 11th February, educating people and touring the region, along main and side roads. It mustve been quite something to see. I just wish Id known!

Once I discovered where some of them were parking, a photo call was a possibility, so I asked the security guys for permission to enter the secure car, oops, bike park, merely to take a few pictures, and was delighted when they allowed me in!

The bikes were amazing. There were vintage ones, new ones, Centenial ones and even a few imports, direct from the US, with emblems not normally seen here in the Southern Hemisphere. There was even an original Police bike, complete with its panniers and wind shield.

Last time the bikes were here was 1999 and the next time they intend coming this far south is in 7 years from now.

It was a special weekend and one I wish Id known more about, prior to it happening! Seeing so much chrome, so many beautiful machines, was a pleasure and a privilege.
