Alterations.

The New Deck.

With the garden being on such a slope, finding a place to go and sit, either for a few minutes in the sun or to relax after a busy day, was proving to be limiting. The one place that was reasonably flat was in the shade and always felt cold and damp. So, after much deliberation and saving, it was decided to make a part concrete/part lawn area into a deck, precisely for this purpose.

Once the deck was near completion, deciding what to put on it was important. Clearly the patio furniture was needed and once stained looked the part, but some colour was also called for, so these little barrows were resurrected and planted for instant appeal!

Heath loves the deck for several reasons. First it adds a welcome obstacle to the course around which he runs every time he goes outside, secondly he can see much more from there and lastly, his paddling pool is on a flat surface and much more fun to leap into!

Lastly, the side of the property is now fully secure. The fence ensures that Heath cannot escape and go wandering and is much nicer than the previous fence. The steps allow safe transit down what had been a treacherous slope, covered with moss and the little hole in the lower portion of the gate allows the cats safe access in a hurry!
