This is a description of a DIY distortion pedal I made based on the the Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer. It has the additional capability of a switchable gain control allowing switching between the normal level distortion and a preset 'Boost' level. In another section I'll attempt to show the differences and what effect they have.
The enclosure is a Hammond 1590BB cast aluminum box. I spray painted it with a white primer and then florescent green spray paint over that. After applying the dry transfer lettering I coated it with a clear acrylic. The paint chips pretty easily and the clear acrylic didn't protect the lettering very well either. So I try a different method shown below.

The stomp switches are an Augat/Alcoswitch, part number MPG-306D for the TPDT. The matching DPDT is part number MPG-206N.
I now have a copy of the schematic (~50K) available for viewing. It has everything except for the input/output jacks and power switching. That is all pretty standard and I didn't feel it necessary to fill up the schematic with it. Actually I was just lazy, who am I trying to kid?
Here is a pic of the new cover I did for a friend.
