Chinese New Year 2007
Happy New Year to all. It's the year of the Boar (Pig). They are smart, hardworking and gentle creatures who enjoys luxury and wealth. Ruined New Year Dinner I invited over 34 people to celebrate Chinese New Year with us and made reservations at the C & Y Restaurant in Cleveland's small Chinatown district. To minimize possible hassles or delays, I preordered the menu and reconfirmed three separate times. The reservation was for 34 people (comprised of 3 large tables), each table was ordered a special chinese new year dinner for ten people (a nine course meal). promptly for 6:30 that evening. There is to be a Lion Dance performance at 7:30, which is why I made the reservation an hour earlier. However, the service was absolutely terrible. I am not exxagerating. The servers passed us several times without stopping. My brother and I went to the manager several times, requesting service, and food. Two hours later, someone finally showed up with the first two courses (the soup and cold appetizer platter). Then nothing for another hour. During that time, several of our guests had to leave, after all it's been a few hours and no food. It wasn't until three and a half hours into our reservation that more food started coming in, some of us actually got water, and they didn't give us two courses out of the nine plus no rice. It took my brother and the presence of my children to keep me from acting on my anger. I was so disappointed at the mistreatment and lack of attention. I happened to see their appointment log, which they kept at the entrance, and no other party was nearly as large as ours, not even close. So why they chose to disregard their biggest tables where the most money would have been generated from, I do not know. My guests were understanding and hungry. I was more than disappointed. This has been the worst dining experience any one could have gone through. I still find it hard to believe~ not one server stopped at our tables, no one asked for drink orders, no tea or water either, our guests sat there for two hours while my brother and I went back and forth to the manager before something actually happened. Do Not Go To C & Y Restaurant!!!
