| Winter is my favourite season and with it comes my favourite holiday, Christmas. Christmas is a holiday which commemorates the birth of jesus christ and is celebrated by members of the the Christian faith. The official Christmas season, popularly known as Christmastide or the 12 days of christmas, extends from the anniversary of Christs birth on the 25th of December to the feast of Epiphany on January 6. It is believed that Christmas originated in the 4th Century as a Christian substitute for Pagan celebrations of the winter solstice. Before Christmas it is a tradition to exchange cards with other people to wish them a Happy Christmas. There are many festive images displayed on hundreds of cards worldwide, here I have a display of some of my favourite cards which I have recieved this year. |
The traditional Santa card. There are many different names for Santa. For example St. Nicholas etc. Click here for my Santa Facts Page. An Eskimo and a snowman. Snowmen are great so Christmasy! A christmas stocking. Ready to be filled by santa. Many people hang these up at christmas for santa to fill at night when he visits. Personaly ive actually never had one :(. Another christmas symbol is the crown. Representing the three wise men I think but if you know better tell me so :) Its penguins and its covered in glitter! What more could you want in a card? Any animal associated with snow gets stuck on the front of christmas cards these days. Isnt it cute? Though why a polar bear is wearing a rug is beyond me. |
A Robin perching on ivy. I like the design of this card as it also has a dash of glitter on it. Robins are winter birds and are also symbols of christmas. An interesting sonwman card. Just something I like about this one. I love to build snowmen so much fun :) Winnie the pooh! Always a favourite. Its great he can be adapted to a card for practically every occasion! And they are always so cute! The Christmas tree. Everyone has one. Some real some fake but they are great fun to decorate The snowman. The difinitive Christmas cartoon. Everyones seen it and its on every Christmas. Another Santa. This time red and shiny and not so traditional. |
