GREENACRES DRAGONS VS WOODVILLE-WEST TORRENS EAGLES
Sunday, 30th April 2006

It was a disappointing loss for the Dragons at home on Sunday against an experienced Eagles unit. With grey skies and a touch of light rain at the start of the 3rd quarter, a determined Dragons outfit were unable to take home the four points.

The first quarter of the game was tight with both teams full of energy and hungry to win. It was exciting to see Kelly show promising signs with her ability to get the ball in the forward lines, and Im sure in no time we will see her converting these opportunities.

Up until half time, when injuries and fitness took their toll on the Dragons game plan, the Eagles converted their chances to blow the scoreboard apart. In unfortunate incidents on the day - Dragons, Bulldog Chloe Whiley was taken from the ground after a knock to the head and didnt return as did Heidi who suffered a knock to her eye.

Even with the scoreboard blown out, it didnt reflect the intensity and competitiveness of the game. Despite ending the game with only 3 points to their name, the Dragons fought out the entire game with tenacious tackles/smothers and chasing down of the ball.

It was an important match for the Dragons season, to assess where they are and where they would like to be in a few weeks. And while the Dragons did show signs of solid competitive football, sadly the results havent been truly reflective yet on the board and Im sure with next weeks game, well be looking to do this!
