Greek " Topikoi oinoi "
| The authorization for
the use of the mark”topikos oinos” for a specific Greek wine
depends first from the voiced interest of the wine merchants, their organizations
or the physical person or corporation ,they have some kind of agreement
with them . According to the rules the comparison must based in the use
of grapes from the most convenient varieties cultivate in proper territory
and their attribution can’t overstep the specific levels. Wine can
be produced either with the simultaneous fermentation of the approved
varieties ,either with the mix of these varieties , under the condition
that the mixture will take place from the growers and not from the wine
dealers. At the indication of “Topikoi Oinoi” can be used
the names of province, vine areas, vineyards, as following: Peloponnese,
Crete, Ìacedonia, Epirus, Thrace, Thessaly, Greek mainland, Ionian
islands, Dodecanese, Cyclades and the Aegean islands. Place names from
villages or islands not allowed unless if it’s the same with the
name of the province , but can be used toponomy epithet (f.e, "Leukaditikos"
instead of "Leukada"). Ôhe province name cannot be used
when there is zone “title of origin” at the limits of the
area, and the variety of “Topikos Oinos” (not allowed to be
the same as the Title Origin. Although, in the case of “topikoi
oinoi” with names from the vineyards or bigger areas as we said
, till 70% of the grapes or wines allowed to come from the varieties and
the zones with Title Origin. Till now has approved the use of the mark

Greek titles of origin
| The Greek naming system aspire to ensure that the wines they bring inscription have been produced according to the right local practice for the production of quality wine .The regulations for the names demand the use of special grapes determine the places which have the proper soil from those varieties, specify the growing system and enforce the max limit per growing area and the less limit content of must in sugar. Additionally, in the case of the "controlled" names of origin, detailed report in relation with subjects as the arable variety in vineyards, the age of the vineyards, new planting, the quantities of the derived and collateral wine, then to check the production if the area. Till now the system of " Title Origin Controlled " has been applied only in Liquer wines. Responsibility for the naming system has the CentralCommitteVinicultureProtection (KEPO) amenable at the ministry of agriculture. Anyway must be noted that the naming system does not guarantee the quality of a specific wine.Till today the following names of origin have been approved . At the approved wines to bring the name administer numbered tapes, should be paste-up at the nozzle of each bottle. For the controlled title of the origin, the tape is white and blue, but for the title origin high quality the tape is white and red.
