About her Writing
Sappho was one of the earliest poets to write in the first person.  It is believed that she wrote nine books of poetry, with many poems about love.  She created her own meter for poetry, which is called the "Sappic meter".

Other Information about her Life

Sappho travelled throughout Greece, although she spent most of her life in Lesbos.  She did live in Sicily for a short time because she was exiled from Lesbos due to political activities.  Some sources say that she was married and had children, while others say that there is no proof of this.  She was honored in Lesbos by having coins made with her picture on them.  She was also called the "tenth muse" by Plato.
