unionized teachers anymore. PAVCS is a state approved, online charter school. It IS still considered public school, so signing up is like tranfering to another District. Since you do it at home, it cost you NOTHING since public school is considered a right of citizenship. In fact, if you are a taxpayer, when you transfer, about 80% of your tax dollars are transfered to PAVCS and away from the greedy teachers!! SWEET!!
You teach whenever it is convienient for you: days, nights, weekends, whenever. Need a day off for the doctor, or just fell like a movie? Go for it. As long as the student does the work, and completes 180 days (or 900 hours) by the end of the year, its cool!!
They supply you with a computer, printer, and monitor, and all the text books needed for the classes--free. In fact, they PAY YOU $20 per month to cover your internet costs, because you need internet to use the school.
The school is a member of the K12 Virtual Academy, using the K12 educational system designed by Dr. Bill Bennett, former Secretary of Education under Ronald Reagan. The materials are lightyears ahead of what is used in regular school--even Abington!!
The kids have monthly field trips for learning and interaction. You are assigned a teacher, who is there to guide you and the student (kind of like tech support)--and the best part is: They do not use unionized teachers!!
