Greatz 1-0 victory over Team Spirit FC

Game against Team Spirit was initially scheduled 9am at PSA. However, it was changed to a smaller field at Westwood Sec and kick-off at 11am instead. But still, Messina did manage to come up with a team of 15. Our match reporter (who missed the last game against Team Spirit) was sick this time round and did not turn up for the game and so, Mr.5 once again writing the match report.

Messina did not have the best start and was having difficulties in controlling the game. For the first 10mins or so, we were under constant threat as Team Spirit had a few early chances to take the lead which were quickly neutralized by our defenders. In the 16th min, Messina got a corner and William drilled the ball low into the box. Eugene attempted to hit it first time on goal and the ball one of the Team Spirit players in the front post and bobbled loosed. Wujie was the fastest to the loose ball and a simple finish gave Messina the important 1-0 lead. Team Spirit never gave up and almost equalize through a well taken free kick which was denied by the crossbar. Messina held on to the 1-0 lead till half time and both teams went for their breaks and team talks respectively.

Second half started in almost similar fashion with Team Spirit eagerly pressing us for the equalizer and Messina happy to defend and hit Team Spirit on the counter. Team Spirit began to throw more bodies up and was again denied by the crossbar not once but twice. Yuanjie was on hand to make a few good saves and the team worked hard defensively to hold on to the 1-0 lead. Final score 1-0 to Messina and we were absolutely delighted to pick up all 3 points. Credits to Team Spirit with their never gave up attitude and were really unlucky to hit the crossbar 3 times. We would like to thank Team Spirit for a great Sunday game and wish them good luck for their remaining games.
