Greatz 4-0 CentralPark International

The maiden encounter against CentraLPark InternationaL is held at West Spring Sec SchooL. As the venue suggests, it is in the west side of the city, and not very ideaL for Greats to commit their Sunday morning time on traveLing to such a "near" pLace. WeLL no compLaints though, how big can Singapore get?

With Greats stiLL at the post-mortem stage of how-the-heLL-did-we-Lose-that-game of the previous week, interesting wouLd be to see how the team wiLL react this time round. Like warriors, Greats did. Not the most fLuent or beautifuL, but the Greats pressed and gave their opponents a hard fight, winning the first, if not second baLLs and not giving much space for the newcomers much
chance.

Greats had a penaLty appeaL turned down when Captain FooL was hacked down in the area, but the referee waved away the protests. The breakthrough, or reward rather, came when No. 5 sneaked in at the far post to head Greats the Lead after a deep corner from Mr. WiLLiam after 16 minutes.

CentraL Park down one goaL but not out, they came back stronger and tried to keep their possession. However, their gamepLan was undone on 33 minutes, as No. 7 brought the baLL drifting from the Left, to the centre, then to the right and after a Lucky one-two with Captain FooL, cut past the defence to power the baLL into the top Left corner of the CentraL Park's net from the edge of the
penaLty box.

With the Greats boss giving him a 3-goaL target for the season, No. 7 is obviousLy grinning, Like .. Joker (ehh?!)

HT ..

2nd haLf, juz as it seemed Like CentraLPark's gonna give Greats another go, Patrick won a baLL in the midfieLd and driLLed a screamer past the defence, beating the goaLie and into the right side of the post. 3 matches gone, and two goaLs in this match are aLready in the reckoning for the
GoaL of the Season.

Three to niL, Greats are not finished yet. The Lads kept going on the offensive, and in the 53rd minute, forward Guoann was adjudged to have been pinned down by the CentraL Park's centreback. PenaLty given this time round. Captain FooL stepped up to bury the baLL into the bottom corner, the goaLie, yet again Left with no chance. As CentraL Park finaLLy threw in the toweL, the Greats sLowed their game but stiLL managed to earn two yeLLow cards, and the scoreLine cLosed at 4-0 pLus two cards to Greats.

A good team performance, a nice cLeansheet and 3pts in the bag for the Greats. Thanks to CentraL Park for a game pLayed in pretty good fairpLay. Hope to meet again for a good game.
