Greatz 2-0 victory over Aioli FC

A great turnout of 20 for the first time this season. With such an attendance, it made a difficuLt day for Greats pLayer-manager, WiLLiam, to pLease every pLayer, but no pLayer can be bigger than the team. And so, the pLayers accepted that the onLy way to make themseLves happy, is to make the best out of watever pLaying time they are given. AioLi United, since the season started, has had very consistent resuLts so far with three consecutive thrashings of their opponents (incLuding FaLLout Boys - Darts FC). Thus, the Greats portray an Art of Defence in the first haLf, containing AioLi and taking the game goaLess into the break.

Sometimes, numbers count for nothing. But today, it worked in favour for the Greats. Changes were made for the second haLf and with AioLi having no such fortune with onLy one sub on the bench, the Greats functioned as a team as they transformed defensive superiority into possession, then from possession into confidence and from confidence, to chances.

Winning headers against AioLi is supposed to be a crazy idea, but surprisingLy the Greats won dozens of first baLLs against the giant figures in AioLi, and the breakthrough came on 59th minute when an air baLL came to "got-feeLing" Number 7, and he headed the baLL across the penaLty box for his partner upfront, Number 11, who took it first time with his head and Lobbing over the keeper and the AioLi defender to Land it in the net.

One-nothing.Greats made changes to keep the shape of the team in order to safekeep the Lead. As the game went on, AioLi's energy couLd be seen to sLowLy diminish under the sun. The Greats, boasting a wide array of powerfuL Lamborghini Legs on MANY positions today, ran AioLi aLmost ragged. Greats extended their bonus Lead with a second goaL which came amidst a shot from Number 12 that hit the ground and juz when everyone thought the baLL is bound for goaL kick, it touched the right frame of goaL and went in. SpectacuLar? You who have seen it decide for urseLf.

And so the Greats aLready pretty content, took more possession but AioLi wasnt about to give up as yet, with a coupLe of shots that went fLashing inches wide from the top corners of our goaL. Yet the day was the Greats' to take. A win weLL deserved, but more importantLy, a major improvement can be visibLe to any who has foLLowed the team since the very maiden season aLongside AioLi. MOTM goes to Number 5, overaLL-in-charge for the department of Defence who kept it organised, cLean and the beautifuL traps of ?offside set this day.

WeLL done to a very stern ref who controLLed the game and shut aLL the rebeLs up. Great sportsmanship from AioLi and we thank them for a good game pLayed.
