Greatz 2-2 Andernese
A good turnout from the team and with the opponent seemingly lacking in numbers, it all seems to point to a easy win for Greats. However football is never about numbers, rather who wants it more. In the end both sides had to settle for a point and that would probably be a fair result.
More to come from our reporter by the side.
Before kickoff, defender GZ's spouse, Charmaine, was commenting about Last week's outstanding win over the division's hot favourite, and that she is here to see the Greats keep that performance going. But Number 7, who wouLd be sitting out for the next few months, repLied .. "Itz too earLy to teLL."
The Greats, so high in confidence and enthusiasm, were aLL Looking forward to another victory this day but with an average kickstart to the match, they feLL one goaL back when Andernese capitaLised on a rare defensive error from the usuaLLy-reLiabLe GZ, standing in at Left fuLLback. As he faiLed to cLear an innocent baLL, the Andernese winger got a cross in and found their striker totaLLy unmarked. GoaL number one came, Leaving Greats goaLie Robin utterLy frustrated.
Greats then turned up the heat and put in more effort, and they were finaLLy rewarded juz before haLftime when Guowei put Mr. WiLLiam through one-on-one with the Andernese keeper and he finished it cLinicaLLy without much sweat.
So haLtime whistLe went at one-a-piece.
ObviousLy pLayer-manager ain pretty happy as he rung changes in the defence and reminding the pLayers to forget about Last week. The second haLf got off to a far better one. With quite some possession in hand, Greats churnedout a number of attacking opportunities but aLas, it was Andernese who stoLe the Lead yet again when Greats defence pLayed the offside trap to no avaiL. ObviousLy the ref probabLy was in a diLemma as to bLow for offside or not but maybe since their forward had put the baLL in the net aLready, the goaL was given.
Once again Greats needed to LeveL the score first before attempting to secure the objective of three points. And so they did, from Mr. WiLLiam yet again, after a perfect through baLL from Pat ..
From then on the traffic can be said to be aLmost one-way. Greats tried to find the third in the cLosing stages, piLing more pressure on Andernese defence but juz couLd not get the baLL past the Andernese defence or the keeper.Time finaLLy ran out. History that Greats aLways fLunk after a giant-kiLLing game continues ...For both teams, they make up the Leading candidates for the Draw SpeciaList Award.
Consistency must be the one word Lacking. Lets juz hope the team can find this missing key ingredient asap to unLock the winning ways once and for aLL. |
