You probably could have seen this story coming from a mile away. When we were out going through neighborhoods during the Christmas season, we (and obviously, the engine) were on call. We stowed our gear in one of the cabinets on the truck. Well, it was inevitable. We were called to a house fire while out one night. We stopped, grabbed our gear, got back on the truck & tried to dress on the way to the call. As it happened, the address was not very far away so we didn't really have time to change more than our boots and into our bunker pants. (Its interesting to try to change your clothes while sitting on top of a moving truck with a Christmas tree falling over on you--its not easy) Since there was always the possibility of children in the area, I didn't want to remove the Santa beard & hat. Well, we got to the address, and you should have seen the homeowner's face when Santa, a snowman, and a bird came off the truck and up to the door to see what the situation was. Fortunately, it was nothing more than a minor electrical problem and there was no fire, but I still get a chuckle thinking how Santa and his helpers came to the rescue that night.
