Yes, after a long pre-season, the first step of the Panthers premiership campaign came, with a victory in the pre-season cup over the Kurragong Men. In what was an epic tussle between two teams that have hit amazing heights so early in the season, one can only think that this is going to be a season that will be remembered for a very long time. The game was not without it's incidents, with Todd "Cheap" Payne reported for punching Fossie. Commentators on the sideline were said to hear Payne commenting about Fossies lack of captaining skills in both Rugby and Touch. The attack was not entirely unprovoked, with Fossie stating during the pre-match hype that coaching a winning team requires more than holding hands with Bubba.
Regardless of the niggle on the field, the inaugural KB Cup resulted in a 7-5 victory to the Chocolate Soldiers, with Nobby taking out the prestigious Dale Kerrigan man of the match award. |
