PANTHERS
Round 9 v Cicadas on Grass
Back
All but the editor of the Panthers official website have had their position called into question as a result of the Panthers recording their 5th loss of the season on Thurday night.
Playing like a bunch of girls, the Panthers went down 5-3 to the competition easy-beats "Cicadas on Grass".

Word within the Panthers camp is that captain Alexander has been approached by club officials who are demanding an explanation of the poor form being displayed by such a talented outfit.

Alexander is likely to lose at least the captaincy of the team, and will most likely be replaced by the inspirational Paul "The Flying Dutchman" Van der Voort, who has not put a foot wrong this season..

Other movements likely to occur within the club will be the shifting of the young talent Brad Fittler to the wing, after Graham "Cheap" Mackay (T Payne) suffered a season-ending knee injury.  MG "The Tap" Geyer (Ben Dunn) will be shifted to the centres, after starting much of the season on the bench.  His form has waranted inclusion in the starting 13 since round 3, however a dogged coaching staff insisted that the early season poor form was just a settling process.  Club management apparently stepped in on Friday morning to limit the powers of coach Phil Gould. The intervention by management is a major backflip, as just 5 weeks earlier, they had expressed extreme confidence in the coaching ablilities of Gould.

Team stalwart Royce "Rowdy" Simmons, has been frustrated by the lacklustre performances of his teammates, and apparently moved to limit Paul "Crappa" Dunns' access to liquor before matches.  The situation flared up when Crappa was openly reprimanded by Rowdy during the opening set of six tackles, when Crappa refused to at least put his beer down while on the field.  Greg "Bubbles" Barwick stepped in and eased the situation by finishing off the drink.

The absence of turnstiles Carter over the past couple of weeks has not aided team harmony.  Scarter is apparently reconsidering his position within the club, as a result of his fiancee insisting that he give the game away.

With Paul "Bongs" Smith leaving the club in the next couple of weeks, John Cartwright (Tim Martin) will be shifted onto the other wing, however he will most likely be paired up with Geyer in the centres, after Col "Boring" Betley has suffered in form since recording two back-to-back players' player awards.

Barry "Gubba" Walker has also shown poor form within the Panthers this season.  Rumours are that his knee, which was operated on last season has been troubling him.  Club doctor, Don Johnson is expected to rule Walker out for the rest of the season, in an attempt to let the knee heal before the team makes an assult on next-years premiership.
