| Heralding from the dry, dusty fields of the opal mining town of Lightning Ridge, Schulz is as elusive on (and off) the field as opals are in the ground. Cutting his teeth in the much respected NSW Country Rugby League Group 14 competition, that includes such powerhouse clubs as the mighty Gilganda Panthers, Schulz was quick to display to representative selectors his raw talent.This included the now famous game that he played, where he recorded the impressive statistic of making every tackle for his team. When asked after the game of his thoughts of the result, Schulz simply replied "I think the other blokes put in a fucking gutsy effort". Such is a display of Schulz' selfless nature. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, Schulz has taken up a lucrative contract to play for the Turkey Trojans, and will be departing the club in February 2002. |
