| Sportsman Class A limited 4 wheeled vehicle utilizing Type 1 VW engine and run with one or two persons during racing. Two seat chassis only. Left hand drive must be retained. This is an entry level class designed for equal competition. GPORRA reserves the right to move any car to another class. ALL ACR�S APPLY FRONT END SUSPENSION ALLOWED: 1. Type 1 VW suspension beam width (34 1/16) is mandatory. 2. Front axle torsion tubes may be cut, rotated and re-welded to increase ground clearance. 3. Torsion adjusters. 4. Filling speedometer hole. 5. Ball joint or king pins. 6. Spindles any make and may be reinforced . 7. Front snubbers of any manufacturer. 8. Liniters on ball joint ends. REARSUPENSION ALLOWED: 1. Type 1 irs or swing axle only. Rear suspension track width must not exceed 51� from backing plate flange to backing plate flange at ride height. 2. Strengthing of irs swing arms 3. Rear torsion tubes may be strengthened. Type 1 stock width is 40.5�. 4. Torsion bar snubbers of any manufacturer. NOT ALLOWED: Secondary suspension. See ACR 45. WHEEL BASE Open SHOCK ABSORBERS ALLOWED: 1. Any size or number. 2. Cooling fans. NOT ALLOWED: 1. Air or coils over shocks. See ACR 45.. STEERING ALLOWED: 1. Chromoly tie rods or any metal material. 2. Tie rods must be one (1) piece only. 3. Tie rod ends - maximum size - small Ford and heim. NOT ALLOWED: Modified stock tie rods (i.e.: cutting , plugging, shimming and rewelding etc.). BRAKES MANDATORY: One working per wheel at the start of the race. Vw type drum only. FUEL See ACR 13. FUEL CELL REQUIRED See ACR 14. ENGINE The engine must be VW Type1 (U.S. Model sedan components.) . Engine size limited to 1679 cc. CRANKSHAFT 69MM stroke only. May be counter weighted CAMSHAFT & GEAR Open OIL PUMP Any manufacturer. CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE ALLOWED: 1. Any manufacturer stock diameter only. 2. Balancing. FLYWHEEL ALLOWED: 1. Stock VW Type 1 design only. 2. Lightening and Balancing. 3. Stock diameter only. 4. Eight dowel pinned. 5. Any gland nut and washer. HEADS ALLOWED: 1. U.S. Sedan stock VW only. 2. May be flycut. 3. Polishing or porting. CARBURETOR ALLOWED: 1. One carburetor per vehicle. 2. Pict 30 or Pict 34 only. 3. Bowl vents. INTAKE MANIFOLD Open. TRANSMISSION VW type 4 forward and 1 reveres only. OIL COOLERS ALLOWED: 1. Any manufacturer full flow system. 2. Location optional. NOT ALLOWED: 1. Deep or dry sump. BUMPERS Adequate for safety front and rear. See ACR 35. |
