| Feb 8, 2001-- The monthly meeting was again held at DJ's Dug Out on 114th and Dodge. Our numbers seem to be growing again as there was a fair turnout. Here are the major points that were discussed at the meeting. Your 2001 membership dues are due. Your $30 is what gives the club its start up money for the season, helping with expenses such as printing cards and flyers, fixing the water truck, advertising, as well as other things. QUADS- This issue was discussed at length. Check the next column for the scoop. Advertising for the 2001 program. We have lined up a printer for this year's race program. Don Turner volunteered to print them again this year but we, meaning not him, have to get everything put together, and ready for print. HOWEVER, we need advertisers for the program. It is never too early to begin talking to potential advertisers about placing an ad with us. I will try to get the forms posted on this site so you can just print them off. The track will be different this season. Mr Belino has informed us of major changes to his track such as lowering the infield and changing the entrance to the infield pits. He has also told us the actual bounderies of his property will allow us twice as much ground as we've been using. He's also turned us loose with his equipment and the large pile of dirt that's left. The plan is to make a true stadium style track like at Wayne, Nebraska two summers ago. It will be a U shape with a large sweeper at one end and two tight turns at the other. For those interested there is a TUFF TRUCK event scheduled to run during our race program on June 16. Let all your buddies know that they can come out and prove to you how much faster their 4x4 is than your buggy. Should be a laugh. The test and tune is scheduled for the 14th of April. I-80 is having a T&T for the circle track crowd, and we've been invited. So, your new "finished by" date should be April 14. Unless you're just so confident in your abilities that you can just show up on June 2 for the first race! If you have anything for sale or want to buy something, send me an email with your ad. I will be starting a classified page soon. WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS FOR THE RACING SEASON Volunteers get paid admission into the races, best seats in the house, and a free meal at the season end banquet. What a deal. Do we know how to treat a date or what? We need flagmen, score keepers, pit stewards, etc. |
QUADS There are several things being discussed about the quad class right now. Nothing bad, just some options. The funny thing is, no-one from the quad class was at the meeting to add to the discussion. So anyway, here's whats been kicked around. The first is that quad riders should join GPORRA. This would mean that the Quads would be running for season points. It would be the same $30 due that everyone else is paying. Along with this is the entry fee question. Entry fee for the class will most likely be $20 per night. Paybacks. There hasn't been anything new proposed for paybacks. Its open to discussion. Scoring. Should all Quads be scored in both heats and the main? Whats the limit per heat? Etc. If you race Quads with GPORRA or are thinking about it, you really should try to get to a meeting. First Thursday of the month at DJ's Dug Out, 114th&Dodge, Omaha. 7:00PM Get there early and play some pool with Phil Cram. If you can't make it to the meetings please email me with any questions or comments. RULE UPDATES The rules pages should be up before too long. Here are some changes that have been made. Seat belts will be allowed 5 years from date of manufacture. Helmets must be SNELL 90 or newer. Window nets must be ribbon type. COMING soon to YOUR web site: History of GPORRA from the very beginning. Past season champs. Rules Classifieds Photo pages |
