The photos above are of Edward Nixon Gray and his wife, Rosa Garcia Gray. These photos are believed to have been taken around 1885.

"Captain" Edward Nixon Gray (c.1826 to 9/11/1897) married Rosa Garcia (8/31/1831 to 10/10/1917) on January 13, 1853 in the Parish Village of Santa Ana de Carmargo, Mexico. Rosa was born in Carmargo, Mexico as well. They built an enormous 22-room, 3-story mansion to accomodate their 14 children on the 40,000 acre La Gloria Ranch in Duval County, Texas, out of timber that was shipped from Florida to Corpus Christi and then transported to the Ranch by ox cart. The Ranch was soon known as the Gray Ranch.

The photo above shows the Gray mansion's side and rear. Click here for additional photos of the Gray mansion.
