No Going Back

Each time you think back, you wish you were there,
Your life leaves faster each day.
The moment goes by and soon it's nowhere,
It's then that you wish you could stay.

When you think back to those wonderful times,
It saddens you to even think,
You could ever go back to a life that's sublime.
You're thirsty with nothing to drink.

Missing the times that have all gone to past.
You took them for grandtit and now,
You know that the next time you'll make it all last.
And thus you have made it a vow.

But how many more of those times will ever come?
Life is too short and you know,
You have to saver every shingle last crumb
Yet there's no way to ever make it slow.

The only thing left are memories undone,
And that's what you hold to your heart.
Thoughts of good times and laughter and fun
Pain punctures your gut like a dart.

So hope for the best one day at a time,
Before you find it's too late.
There's no going back to the old friendly rhyme,
So don't let your memories fall to fate.
