Abaddon - The Beginning of the End |

Abaddon was my very first comic project, started in the summer of 2004 it ran till the end of the year and was circulated around my school as a way of bringing my art to a wider world. The comic contained two different comic strips. First was my strip, which i called Shadow World, the second was Jo's strip, which he called HellMouth. My strip focused on the post apocalyptic world of earth in the wake of a nuclear war set in the future. The main character, Tripp (seen below), is orphaned in the riots that followed the destruction and is lost in a barren wilderness with only his wits to survive. I only ever wrote 6 editions and i have only put 5 of them on the site though i will be putting the 6th up soon. |

The comic itself was not amazing but had a large fan base a was greatly loved by many people dispite the totally hollow story lines of the first few editions. Production was stopped by two things: firstly the comic was costing more to make than i was making from the sale of it and i couldn't make them fast enough, secondly i had a lot of work to do that year to prepare my portfolio and that left little time for my comic.
To the right you can see some pictures from the later episodes of the comic which, i'm glad to say, had better plots and storylines. |

The picture to the left is my favourite cover of all. It depicts a space station orbiting the earth as the nuclear missiles launch and wipe |

out the planet. I really loved the idea of the astronauts looking down and seeing the earth obliterated and not being able to do anything about it. Another reason i like this drawing so much is the realistic look it has compared to a lot of the other drawings. I allways put extra time into the covers, making sure they were dramatic and interesting. The picture above is a long stairway in issue 5 that leasds up into the heart of Alpha City, the great metropolis built on an active volcano. I loved the idea of Alpha City which was a great industrial city that was almost completely automated and was still functioning dispite the fact that a nuke had wiped out all the people. |
